I have always suffered from looking much younger that my
real age. Especially in the field of work where looks and dress code play a
major role in your career development and being able to gain the trust of
powerful or superior people in the work place. To overcome this problem in my
early start, I had developed a habit of dressing in a full formal wear, a suit
most of the times. That was my choice to wear in my first appearance in that
cultural event where a mysterious nice man by the name of Camel will give a
presentation about art appreciation.
I headed to the place with tens of scenarios in my mind, all
of which include a terrifying feeling of meeting new faces and being among
people I don’t know, my sociophobia was beating me but my desire to see and
experience this group of people and their event was more powerful.
I reached the place, Studio 206, and registered my name and
details in the reception and went straight to the room where the event will
take place. I was a bit early so I spent the time watching people from a remote
seat at the very far end of the room. I saw a group of people gathering in
small groups, all in casual wear, looking cheerful and so much at ease,
chatting, laughing and joking like old friends. Not a sign for anything creepy,
no one looks nerdy or freaky, and all had a smile on their face and a look of
excitement in their eyes. Again, I felt like an alien, this is not what I
expected.
The presentation started, absorbing, mind blowing and full
of bran new information for me. I was impressed by the amount of data the man
compiled in such a short period of time and how attractive they were put
together. It was something I have never seen before. At the end of the
presentation, I went straight to the presenter and introduced myself, I was
attacked by his hug and kisses as if we were old friends and I immediately
expressed my deep admiration to his work. He greeted me and told me that I
became officially a member in the group and I will start receiving emails on my
yahoo email. The last word I heard of him was: “Enjoy!”.
