Dear ex-PYs,

This is Tamae Saito at IYEO. I hope you are all doing
well.

I would like to inform that IYEO would like to recommend
2 or 3 ex-PYs to the Japanese Government as advisors to
join SWY19.

The tentative sailing route and the schedule for SWY19 are:

Jan. 16 Arrival of the non-Japanese participants in Tokyo
Jan. 16-24 Activities in Japan
Jan. 24 Board Nippon Maru (all PYs)
Jan. 25 Departure from Japan
Jan. 25-March 8, SWY19 program

March 8 Return to Japan, disembarkation (all PYs)

It would be best to have the advisers join the ship from
Japan during the pre-departure training (from January 20
or 21, 2007) until the end of the program (March 8, 2007),
but it may be negotiable.

The main discussion theme of the SWY19 will be:
Youth participation in society

The Japanese government has reorganized the SWY program, and
from SWY17, there is a new program called "Course Discussion,"
integrating the discussions and seminars into one series of
program, which is considered as one of the main activities
of the SWY. There will be six or seven courses (topics) for
this "Course Discussion," and each PY will choose one course
that they will be engage in from the beginning until the end.

Each advisor will be conducting this "Course Discussion" with
an ex-PY facilitator, and will be required to plan and organize
series of small discussion group sessions as well as seminars
and workshops on a topic related to the main theme above.

The Japanese Government is looking for advisors who are older
than 30 years old (as of April 1, 2006) and specialize in areas
such as:
- Education
- Environment
- Youth development
- Information/media
- Inter-cultural understanding
- Traditional culture
- Volunteerism
- Other areas related to community/social/youth work or economy

If an advisor can understand both English and Japanese, it
would be desirable.

If you are interested in this position, please prepare the
following documents and send them to IYEO through the President
of the Alumni Association in your country.

1) Resume/CV (please include about your English and Japanese
ability) with a photograph (physical photo, not digital),
chest-up, 3.5 x 4.5 cm
2) Short essay explaining about the field that you specialize
in, and what kind of contribution you can do if you had an
opportunity to become an Advisor of SWY
3) Theme and ideas on the operation of your group session.
Please note, the common theme of the Course Discussion is
"Participation of Youth in Society."
The content of your course must be related to this common theme.
4) Recommendation from the President of your AA
5) Recommendation from your batch mate or someone who knows
you well (in Japanese or English)

*** Notes ***
a. Even if you have submitted your applications previously, please
submit the above documents again.

b. If you have an experience in teaching English, please include
that information in your CV.

c. The Japanese Government will pay you remuneration to cover
some of your expenses (approx. 200,000 yen in total)

The deadline for the application is May 15th, 2006.
(The mail must arrive by this date.)

*********************************************************************

Please let me remind you again that you must submit your application
through the President of your AA, and not directly to IYEO.

*********************************************************************

Just to clarify, here is the procedure to submit your application form.

colleague

from the SWYAA President
